Over the past 20 years I have been involved in 9 different network marketing companies. Out of the 9 I have had success with 2. The only reason I did not have success with all the companies, is because I lacked the correct training.
Network marketing training really boils down to 2 ways. The old school ways, and the New school ways. I want to talk with you a bit about both today. And before I do, I want to stress that both ways work even in today’s information age.
Old MLM Network Marketing Training
Old school mlm network marketing training is how everyone from 1950 all the way up to around 2000 would build their business. This consisted of:
- Make a list of 100 people
- Belly to belly marketing
- Home meetings
- 3 Way calls
Making a list of 100 people would be your warm market. People you have known for years. Once you got them on the phone you could either send them to a recorded call, or 3 way with your upline. These still work great today. What I have told my distributors is to never go after your warm market with the opportunity. Or how to make money. If you like the products, then try and get your warm market to become a loyal customer first. Then if they want to make money, then show them.
Belly to belly, is talking to anyone you see on the street. This is considered cold market, and it takes your belief in the company to be very high. If your belief is low, people you meet on the street will sense this, and always say no. If you have a hard time walking up to complete strangers, and talking about the products. Then just hand someone a brochure about the products, and let that do all the talking for you. This will require to hand out 10-20 per day to see any real results.
New MLM Network Marketing Training
New school mlm network marketing training is using the communication tools we have available to us today.
- Setup Lead Capture Page
- Drive Traffic to that Page
- Collect Email and Send to Video Presentation
- Followup with Lead for a Decision
Over the past 5 years we have seen the explosion of tools to use to help build our mlm business. Social media sites like facebook and twitter let us build a list of people that are interested in network marketing. Most new people who are still stuck in the old school ways of doing things, mess up when it comes to marketing online. I see to many new distributors blasting their company replicated website. And that is just spamming and most will be turned off.
What I have found to be the best way to really build up a solid network marketing business is helping those that are struggling with network marketing. This means I use both offline and online mlm training techniques to find this group of people. If you lead with training, tools, and tips you will find you get a more receptive following up people eager to join your mlm business.

Nice that you didn’t blame the network marketing companies because often times it is not the company that failed. Network marketers need proper training just like any other profession.
